Selection Criteria
The
following is a guide for those wishing to be carers with this
agency. The guide comprises selection criteria at the two main
stages of the process.
FIRST STAGE
Criteria to be met before an introduction visit is arranged.
- Applicants have enough
space to look after a child, preferably with own room or with clear plan
to make more space;
- Applicants have no children
under two years of age;
SECOND STAGE
Criteria to be met during the assessment process and before approval can be
given.
- All checks as required to
be clear of anything that may undermine the ability to care for a child
safely and well;
- Must be medically fit or
assessed as falling within reasonable parameters by medical adviser;
- All sections of Form F1 to
be covered and acceptable;
- Motivated to do the job for
itself and relate well to children;
- Must attend preparation /
foundation training;
- Understand the
responsibilities of the task;
- Be assessed as able to work
together as part of a professional team;
- Be committed to further
development and training;
- Able, as a family, to look
after a child in placement, i.e. with space, emotional capacity and
motivation to accept a needy child.
